  • appoint a guardian for minor children

  • ensure the continued operation of a family-owned business
  • bypass probate administration for your estate
Trusts
Trusts are a very useful tool that can be used to reduce estate taxes and provide liquidity to your estate. They are usually an important element of an estate plan.

Trusts can be "living" - that is, established during the Grantor's lifetime, or testamentary - established in a Will. A living trust can be revocable - subject to termination or modification at any time by the Grantor for any reason - or irrevocable. As for testamentary trusts, a deceased Grantor is unable to change the terms of a trust created under his/her Will, so these trusts are always irrevocable.

Let us help craft the trust(s) that meet your personal, family, and business objectives.

Gifts
Taxes that are imposed upon death provide an incentive to transfer assets to others before death; and therefore gift tax laws were designed to prevent complete tax avoidance by this route. The Federal Estate Tax is integrated with the Federal Gift Tax so that large estates cannot be shielded from taxation by lifetime giving. Many states also impose an estate tax.

Let us assist you in establishing a gifting program by which you can, if you so desire, transfer the maximum value of assets allowable by law.
